PHYS-321 Statics and Strength of Materials

Static equilibrium conditions applied to trusses and frames. Application of friction. Relationship between stress and strain which includes thermal stresses. Characterizations of beams including corresponding deflections and internal stresses. Shear and bending moment diagrams. Combined stresses and strength of beam connections.
Prerequisite: take PHYS-241  or PHYS-281
