ART-256 Workshop: Material Exploration of Object Making
(3 cr.)

Exploration of the notion of “Touching the Void” through the investigation of native materials, objects, and architectures in unfamiliar culture. Workshops to learn material properties, visit traditional craft studios, temples and shrines, as well as museums, to explore both traditional and contemporary culture in Asia. Upon return, students make small-scale artwork with materials they have chosen throughout their travel.
Prerequisite: take ART 103 (must have C or better)
