Introduction

Strong communication skills in the health care workplace are important to career development and crucial when it comes to adapting to changes in the health care industry. Employment opportunities for individuals with health communication training will continue to grow in response to the nation’s needs and resources devoted to health issues. Through the coursework, those who earn the Health Communication certificate will be able to create effective health messages through user-centered communication strategies, evaluate the relationship between communication and health-related outcomes for individuals and populations, evaluate the influences of culture on the effectiveness of health communication, and apply principles and theories to research and practice. 

This certificate serves working professionals who have earned a baccalaureate degree and are seeking further professional development. Students would not need to be degree-holder in a communications field. Courses are offered online.
