         Interior Design, B.F.A.: 4-year sequence

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Interior Design program prepares students for careers in interior design and related industries. Graduates of UW-Stout’s program have careers in large corporations, architectural design firms as well as specialized interior design firms. The success of our students is derived from a program that highlights the intersections of fine art, design, history, sustainability and a strong liberal arts education.

Interior design courses integrate art, design and history to fully prepare interior design students to create meaningful, safe and lifeenhancing interior environments that contribute to the cultural, social and environmental well-being of society. The technical courses in the engineering and construction departments are supported by industry standard software and hardware. Interior design students have the opportunity to study internationally and pursue internships at regional and national firms.

A required mid-program portfolio review offers students an assessment of their progress in foundation art and design courses. Extensive library resources and the art and design department visual resource center are significant assets. A 2.0 overall grade point average and a 2.5 or better in art and design courses are required for graduation.
