Introduction
The Rehabilitation Services Program takes a holistic approach to assisting individuals to reach their maximum potential. It addresses the medical/physical, psychological, social, educational, vocational, recreational, financial, and legal areas of a person’s life. Students learn about the barriers to integration and learn techniques to reduce them to facilitate participation and inclusion in the community.
Students participate in two practicum/internship experiences that provide them the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills directly working with individuals and utilize what they have learned in their educational program. The Rehabilitation Services program offers the opportunity for students to pursue their Wisconsin Substance Abuse Certification and/or Social Work Certificate upon the completion of specific coursework and supervised practicum experiences.
Graduates of the program are employed in diverse settings such as community-based rehabilitation programs, workers’ compensation and health insurance companies, private rehabilitation, mental health and social service agencies, veterans’ services, halfway houses, substance abuse programs, disability services and independent living programs. They provide services to individuals with a wide variety of disabilities, chronic illnesses and injuries across the lifespan.
