Introduction

UW-Stout’s Master of Science degree in Operations and Supply Management (OSM) prepares you for advanced leadership roles in global business and technical environments. Operations, supply chain and logistics management, and construction management are areas that need managers who can apply both existing and emerging technologies to plan, organize and implement effective systems.

UW-Stout’s MS in Operations and Supply Management is accredited by the ACBSP (Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs).

Admission
To be admitted with full status to this program, the applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, have an overall grade point average of at least 2.75 and have the equivalent of two years of appropriate work or military experience. Applicants who have an overall grade point average below 2.75 may be considered for probationary admission if other requirements are met.

Prerequisite courses may be prescribed upon evaluation of undergraduate transcripts or if the applicant does not have two years of work experience.

Primary Evaluation Processes
The primary mechanisms used to evaluate program and academic progress include course grades and research project evaluation.

Requirements
One-half (50%) of the minimum credits required for graduation from this program must be in graduate-level only (700/800) courses.

Additional requirements for this degree include: (a) completion of at least 32 semester hours of graduate credit with an overall graduate grade point average of 3.0 or better, (b) approval of degree candidacy at the appropriate time; and (c) a course distribution as outlined here:

Research Component (3-9 credits)


Complete one of the following three Research Options:

Research Option 1 - Plan A Option (9 cr. 700 level course)


Research Option 2 - Plan B Option (6 cr. 700 level course)


Research Option 3 - Capstone Option (3 cr. 700 level course)


Concentration or Electives (12 credits)


Complete at least 12 more credits (4 courses) from any of the courses listed under the following concentrations or from the list of electives.

If all 4 courses are taken from a single concentration, that concentration will be transcripted.  

*To complete the Construction Management Concentration either the Plan A or Plan B Research option must be completed.

**Additional coursework may be completed to graduate with multiple concentrations.
