This specialization is intended for licensed secondary teachers who are teaching or interested in teaching health science occupation (HSO) related coursework. Individual school districts determine the licensure needed by an individual teaching HSO related coursework. Completion of the specialization does not result in the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction certification. Courses are offered online. The field experience will take place in a health care facility.

Requirements for the Specialization (12 credits)
Intended Outcome
Demonstrate knowledge, understanding, and competence in the following:
- The demands and responsibilities of working in a health care facility
- National Health Care Skill Standards
- Curriculum planning in health science occupations
- Organizational structure and administration of health care and role of health care professionals
- Student career development
- Organization and supervision of work-based learning
Evaluation
*Successful completion of courses is required. Artifacts for the professional portfolio are identified on course outlines.
