         Marketing and Business Education, B.S. (Marketing Education License): 4-year sequence  

Introduction

Are you creative and like to direct and plan activities for others? Are you interested in enhancing your knowledge and skills to better express your passion for marketing and business? UW-Stout’s Marketing and Business Education program combines all of these interests into one program.

The disciplines of marketing and business contribute significantly to the intellectual and career development of students in an age of innovation and invention. Graduates of the program will be prepared to teach in middle and secondary classrooms. Graduates are also prepared to enter careers in business and industry that expand on their real-world experience.

The program is also offered with a distance option for geographically bound students seeking teacher certification.

General Requirements
Bachelor of Science

Total for graduation 121 credits  
Stout Core 40 credits  
Major Studies 81 credits  

Although it is not a requirement for graduation, students should be aware of the fact that they must acquire a minimum of 4,000 hours of occupational experience before they can be certified to teach Marketing in Wisconsin. Students enter the program with “pre-education” status. Earning a 2.75 or better grade point average and passing a required skills test will formally move them into the Marketing Education program.

Note: Students are required to maintain a 2.75 grade point average throughout the marketing and business education program. Grade point of 2.0 (C) or better is required in each designated * course prior to student teaching.

This program is designed to meet the requirements for licensure in the State of Wisconsin. If you reside outside of Wisconsin, please note that UW-Stout cannot confirm whether this program (or course) meets requirements for professional licensure in your state. Students from other states will need to contact their state regarding licensure requirements.  See the following website for additional information. 

Program Requirements


Stout Core (40 credits*)


Analytic Reasoning and Natural Science (10 credits)


Remaining courses must be from the areas of analytic reasoning and natural sciences. At least one mathematics or statistics course and a natural science course with a lab are required.

Arts and Humanities (6 credits)


Social and Behavioral Sciences (6 credits)


Social Responsibility and Ethical Reasoning (3 credits)


Electives to reach 40 Stout Core credits


Students must also take courses with the following designations:


Racial and Ethnic Studies (2 courses)


Global Perspective (2 courses)


Note:


* MBE, CTE, EDUC, ENGL, SPED, SPCOM, RDGED designated courses require a “C” or better to count for the program.
