Design Minor

The Design Minor provides a foundation in visual literacy and creative problem solving within the context of the design studio. Students analyze design systems, processes and products in historical and cultural contexts; they also produce creative works within prescribed constraints. This minor equips students with a breadth of knowledge and tools to analyze and solve creative problems.

A design minor requires a minimum of 24 credits. All course work must be A-F grade basis and completed with a “C” or better. A maximum of four courses from the major may “double count.” A minimum of 12 credits within the minor must be completed at UW-Stout.

 

Design Literacy


DES101 is required of all students.

Select one additional course to satisfy this core:

  • ART101 or ART103
  • DES220 or DES240

Note that ART101, ART103, DES220, and DES240 may be pre-requisites of courses in the Design Disciplines core.

Additional DES-XXX or GDD-XXX courses may be applied to the minor; however, enrolling in those course(s) will require satisfying pre-requisites or obtaining instructor permission.
