Introduction
The Studio Art Minor provides a foundation in visual literacy and creative problem solving within the context of the fine art studio. Students analyze art in historical and cultural context and apply principles of art and design in the production of artworks. This minor equips students to be creative, reflective, visually astute, and culturally aware.
A studio art minor requires a minimum of 23 credits. All course work must be on an A-F grade basis and completed with a “C” or better. Two Studio Art Foundation and one Art History courses may be used to fulfill both Studio Art Minor and major requirements. The courses for the Studio Art Practices must be ART prefix and laboratory courses with a maximum of two courses in the 200 level. Certain courses may be repeated for credit with authorization from the minor advisor. A minimum of 12 credits within the minor must be completed at UW-Stout.
