Applied Mathematics and Data Science, M.S.

The Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics and Data Science is a career-oriented degree designed to prepare individuals to demonstrate advanced knowledge of mathematics and statistical techniques for business and industry. The program encourages working professionals and recent graduates to apply. Applied mathematics and data science focuses on topics, problems and questions in business environments and industry that require modeling, data analysis and computation skills. A successful applied mathematician and data scientist has strong analytical and problem-solving skills built upon a background in computing, mathematics, statistics and the field of application. The curriculum will include a common core of 24 credits of coursework in advanced topics in mathematics, statistics, and, to an extent, computer science.

Foundational Courses (24 credits)


These courses comprise the foundational courses for the program. Students are required to take all of these courses for a total of 24 credits.

Electives (6 credits)


Any CS, MATH, MSCS, or STAT course numbered above 500 or BUACT, INMGT, BUINB, BUMGT, INMGT, or MFGE course numbered 500 and above with approval from program director
