Introduction

The Bachelor of Science in Management & Leadership (BSM&L) program is a customized online, degree completion program for returning adults. The program is responsive with students that have progressive career experience and seek to advance their career aspirations by growing their technical skills to advance professionally into mid-level, senior leadership/management positions. The BSM&L program expands professional capacity by increasing the application of technology tools and facilitate the leadership of employees critical to achieving business goals.

Graduates of UW-Stout’s BSM&L program have careers that embrace leadership/management roles in areas such General Operations Manager, Administrative Services Manager, Human Resource Specialist and Managers, Business Intelligence Analyst, Financial Manager, Supply Chain Manager, Project Management Specialist, Quality Manager, Compliance Manager, Social and Community Services Manager, and Sales Manager.

General Requirements
Bachelor of Science Degree

Total for Graduation: 120 credits   
Stout Core: 40 credits
Major Studies: 80 credits

Program Requirements


Stout Core (40 credits)


Analytic Reasoning and Natural Sciences (10 credits)


Courses must be from the areas of analytic reasoning and natural sciences. At least one mathematics or statistics course and a natural science course with a lab are required.

Arts and Humanities (6 credits)


Social and Behavioral Sciences (6 credits)


Social Responsibility and Ethical Reasoning (3 credits)


Courses must be selected from the list of approved social responsibility and ethical reasoning courses.

Electives to reach 40 Stout Core credits


Students must also take courses with the following designations:

Concentration Requirements (choose one)


Concentrations require 18 credits. 

Accounting and Finance (18 credits)


This concentration is aimed at preparing students for the Certified Managment Accountant credential.

Business Leadership Studies (18 credits)

Technical Electives (up to 27 Credits)


Credits transfered in from associate degree in area of speciality, or credits for prior learning for work experience. This must include coursework equivalent to BUACT-206. If not, that course must be taken.
