Animation & Digital Media, B.F.A.: 4-year Sequence
Introduction
The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Animation & Digital Media at UW-Stout prepares graduates for careers in the fast-moving and innovative fields related to animation. Students explore two-dimensional, three-dimensional, character, motion graphics and other forms of animation for application in entertainment, advertising, information and other time-based industries.
The Animation & Digital Media program will provide students with the specific skills needed to enter the industry, as well as a strong foundation of core skills that will allow them to adapt to new technologies and methodologies throughout their careers. The animation program emphasizes a strong relationship between story, fine art, and digital media. Students will acquire hands-on experience using industry standard tools, software and creative techniques, as well as be encouraged to participate in research projects, co-ops or study abroad programs. Upper-level and capstone courses focus on producing individual and collaborative works to engage audiences in a variety of venues ranging from corporate and commercial to broadcast and streaming entertainment platforms.
A 2.0 overall grade point average and a 2.5 or better in Art and Design department courses is required to complete this Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
The BFA in Animation & Digital Media program provides a specialized education and is accredited by the National Association for Schools of Art and Design.
