Introduction

UW-Stout’s Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science & Technology prepares you for a rewarding career. Our graduates work as food technologists, food scientists, technical consultants, product development managers and research and development (R&D) directors for food manufacturers, scientific research labs and government agencies.

Our program integrates applied science with food that enables students to create new opportunities and solve real-world problems. Whether you are interested in developing new food products, testing recipes, sourcing ingredients, implementing sustainable processes in food and agriculture, or enhancing the safety of food, we can help you achieve your goal. You will graduate with skills and knowledge in:

  • Sensory evaluation

Bachelor of Science Degree

Total for Graduation: 120 credits  
Stout Core General Education Requirements:   33-36 credits  
Major Requirements: 59 credits  
Electives, Minor or Student-designed focus area:   17-18 credits  
Free Electives: to reach 120 credits  

 

Work experience must be obtained through participation in the Field Experience program (after junior year). A 2.75 or better grade point average is required for graduation.

Math & Quantitative Reasoning (3-5 credits)


Social and Behavioral Sciences (6 credits)


Humanities & Arts (6 credits)


Natural Science & Wellness (6-7 credits)


Take at least one natural science with a lab.

Civics & Perspectives (3 credits)
