Automation Leadership, B.S.

Introduction:

The goal of the Bachelor of Science online degree completion program in Automation Leadership is to fill the needs of industry for leaders in digital transformation. The degree completion program will prepare graduates for positions in diverse automation and digital leadership roles by providing education that complements their technical training with skills in management, leadership, and quality improvement. The curriculum will also include content and skill development related to Robotics, System Design, Automation, Cyber Security, Data Analytics, Sustainability, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and Manufacturing Execution Systems. 

The capstone experience will provide students the opportunity to apply skills acquired from coursework through a project-based experience that addresses a problem, need, or concern in a Manufacturing and Service setting.  Students will also utilize project management and leadership tools obtained through coursework and by working directly with Manufacturing and Service leaders, resulting in an action plan, product, or service suitable for implementation by the host organizations.

Admission into the program requires an Associate of Science degree or equivalent in a related field.

Stout Core 40 credits
Major Studies 80 credits

*19 credits of program core at UW-Stout, including a capstone
*21 credits transferred from a technical college certificate program that can be earned concurrently with or prior to being admitted to the B.S. degree completion program
*40 credits transferred from the technical program core in the student’s specialty area (Associate’s Degree)
*32 credits must be completed at UW - Stout.

 

Program Requirements


Stout Core (40 credits)


Analytic Reasoning and Natural Sciences (10 credits)


Courses must be from the areas of analytic reasoning and natural sciences. At least one mathematics or statistics course and a natural science course with a lab are required.

Arts and Humanities (6 credits)


Courses must be selected from the list of approved arts and humanities courses.

Social and Behavioral Sciences (6 credits)


Courses must be selected from the list of approved social and behavioral sciences courses.

Social Responsibility and Ethical Reasoning (3 credits)


Courses must be selected from the list of approved social responsibility and ethical reasoning courses.

Electives to reach 40 Stout Core credits


Students must also take courses with the following designations:


*Students can choose courses that meet more than one requirement (one Stout Core category and either a RES or GLP designation)

Racial and Ethnic Studies (2 courses)


Global Perspective (2 courses)


Complete 6 credits of global perspective (GLP) approved courses, including GLP-approved instructor-led study abroad courses, or complete a program of university-approved work or university-approved study abroad not led by UW-Stout instructors.

Professional Core (40 credits)


40 credits transferred from the technical program core in the student’s specialty area (Associate’s Degree)

Certificate Transfer Core (21 Credits)


21 credits transferred from an articulated technical college professional certificate program that can be earned concurrently with or prior to being admitted to the B.S. degree completion program

Program Core (19 credits)


Note


Student must complete at least 32 credits in residency at UW-Stout.
