Applied I/O Psychology, M.S.:  2-year sequence

Introduction

Master of Science Degree This two-year hands-on applied program is designed to prepare students for a career in Industrial/Organizational (I/O) psychology or related fields. Students take core courses in I/O psychology, professional development, applied research and evaluation, as well as an internship. Additionally, students have flexibility in their learning experience by choosing from a thesis concentration or a self-designed concentration, taking a variety of courses in psychology, human resource management, project management, organizational development, training and talent development, and more.

This program was developed to balance the polytechnic mission of the university with the guidelines of education and training provided by the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP.org). It provides students the knowledge, experience, skills, and abilities needed to apply the theories, methods, and practice of psychology to the identification and solution of a variety of complex organizational problems. Graduates of the program have the applied research and data analysis skills to prepare them for a wide range of careers in business, education, nonprofits, and healthcare.

Admission

Applicants must have an overall grade point average of 3.0. Applicants may be admitted on probationary status if their overall grade point average is less than 3.0.

It is recommended that applicants have completed at least 15 credits of psychology-related courses, especially quantitative courses like statistics, research methods, and psychological measurement. This is not a requirement for application but provides a solid foundation for the coursework in our program.

As part of your program application, you are required to submit a statement of intent describing your educational and professional background, your career goals, and your interest in the MSAIOP program. You are also required to submit a resume.

Program application materials are available online at http://www.uwstout.edu/programs/msap/applying.cfm

The program accepts applications and grants admission to students intending to start in the fall term; special circumstances may allow for a spring term start. To be given full consideration, application materials must be received by February 1. After review of your application, notification of acceptance will be made by early March for fall term.
